RMS elbow guard: Ditching the thumb with innovative technique

A wide sort of oral habits in infants and young child has been the center of much controversy for several years. As pedodontists, our fundamental responsibility is that the oral health of the kid. Early diagnosis of abnormal habits may allow both dentists and fogeys to discourage these habits to avoid negative consequence. Oral habits, especially if they persist beyond the preschool age, are implicated as a crucial environmental etiological factor related to the event of malocclusion. RURS’ elbow guard -A unique extra oral appliance to stop thumb/finger sucking was designed by Shetty et al (2010) to interrupt the habit. It had been later modified within the year 2015 and was termed as RMS elbow guard.

The presentation will specialize in an approach to the diagnosis and management of thumb/finger sucking habit and more emphasis are going to be given to the novel and innovative approach (RURS elbow guard, RMS elbow guard) and research administered in treating thumb/finger sucking habit.
